09 - Maioliche AMA
Along via Rossini you can read a sign “Maioliche AMA” on the wall of Palazzo Mazzolari.
The “A.M.A.” (Artigiani Maiolicari Associati) factory was founded in 1950 by the brothers Elso, Luisa and Nemorino Sora, together with the ceramist Franco Ridolfi and the painter Vittorio Benvenuti, in the premises of via Morosini 27, in Pesaro.
In 1954 the laboratories were moved to via Chioggia, our stop n. 1, and all the production was sold directly to the public in the shop in via Rossini.
In 1954 the “A.M.A.” was present, with a piece made by Elso Sora, at the XII° Concorso Nazionale della Ceramica di Faenza.
The trademark consists of the writing “A.M.A.”, often in gold, and the pieces on which the hippocampus symbol also appears were made personally by Elso Sora.
After Sora's death in 1991, the factory continued its activity under the direction of his son Claudio.
